Forget the past*
“I would say that guilt is the biggest, ugliest most damaging sin of all. Guilt, because you carried into the moment, that you can’t even enjoy this moment because you feel guilty about it.”
If you don’t learn how to forgive, you can not live, you can not move forward and you will always suffer. It takes courage to let it go and you have to have enough faith to believe that what is in front of you, it’s greater than what was behind you. Do not live in the past, but learn from it.
If you focus on the negative things that had happened in the past, your life will move in a negative direction. You can not move forward if you are still thinking about your past. Whatever happened, it happened and there is absolutely nothing you can do to change it.
It is completely okay to let things go, and this includes things you feel guilty about too, so stop focusing on the past events that you cannot change and concentrate on the present instead.
Maybe you cannot forget the past completely, but you can change your present in such a way, that you will feel good even when you remember those memories that used to make you feel bad.
“The only thing a person can ever really do is keep moving forward. Take that big leap forward without hesitation, without once looking back. Simply forget the past and forge toward the future.” ― Alyson Noel
“I think the secret to a happy life is a selective memory. Remember what you are most grateful for and quickly forget what your not.” ― Richard Paul Evans
“Forgetting is something time alone takes care of, but forgiveness is an act of volition, and only the sufferer is qualified to make the decision” ― Simon Wiesenthal
